Vagamon is situated enroute to Thekkady and the Periyar Tiger Reserve if you use the alternative route to Thekkady from Kottayam. About less than two hours away from Vagamon, Thekkady is home to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, a 777 sq. kms reserve that is home to the endangered Tiger, Elephants, Wild Gaurs and numerous species of birds.

To explore the environs, the reserve has various programs for tourists, from boating to bamboo rafting, treks to border hiking. Guests who stay with us sometimes drive onto to Thekkady to catch the 4 pm boating across the lake, an activity with a high possibility to sight animals.
